We can promote our amazing supplement later, but right now we want to talk about our cause. With the turmoil we are all experiencing right now, it’s worth another mention, and we hope it may help someone.
If you’re not healthy mentally, you can’t take charge of your physical health. As you may know, we are advocates for the focus on mental health, which we consider to be a largely ignored epidemic. We talk a lot about the benefits of exercise, meditation, self care and so on, but this is a quick reminder of the general health pitfalls of ignoring the real you.
Stress kills. Heart attacks, disease, and so much more are either created or fueled by mental health disorders, particularly reaction to stress. You must learn to manage your stress. Let the little (and big) stuff go. If your job is a source of unrelenting stress, take expert advice on how to deal with that, and if that doesn’t work, look for something else. If you are surrounded by toxic people, cut them loose, even if they are your family. Stop watching the news. Take time for yourself. Give yourself a present every day. Give love with no expectation of getting it back, you would be amazed at how relaxing that feels.
Stress is a fact of life, we will never escape it. Some stress is good, it can save us from dangerous situations or inform us about who we should or shouldn’t mix with. Sometimes life events happen that are overly stressful, and that’s just how it is. You have to learn to minimize the damage that does to you mentally and physically.
If you feel like you are drowning in stress, you probably need help. There are resources for you. Doctors, therapists, the JED Foundation, the Hi, How Are You Project, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline, and even us. If you or someone you know needs help, speak up. We’re all in this together, we love you, and we want you here.
