This is our first lip post. We will get into the excitement of lip cosmetics later, but these are the lip care basics. Your lips (especially the bottom one) are a serious target for UV induced skin cancer, so they need protection. On a less scary note, lips get irritated easily and regularly. Here is what the experts have to say about dealing with both:
- Exfoliate – Once per week use a wet toothbrush or wash rag to gently remove the clingy, dead skin.
- Hydrate – Lips don’t have oil glands to keep them slippery, so drink plenty of water and try not to lick them, which further irritates them.
- Protect – Just like the rest of your skin, it is critical to cover your lips in a mineral based SPF when out and about, and reapply it every 2 hours.
- Moisten – After you’re done with your tooth routine at night, slather your lips in a lip moisturizer to help repair while you sleep.
Take care of your lips, they’re romance dependent.
